Aflatoxins are highly carcinogenic, toxic secondary metabolites from a class of fungi (such as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus). Zearalenone (ZEN), also known as F-2 toxin, mainly pollutes crops such as corn, wheat, and grains. It has a strong estrogenic effect and can cause hyperestrogenism, as well as severe reproductive tract symptoms and infertility, and is also immunotoxic and genotoxic. Deoxynivalenol (DON) also known as Vomitoxin, belongs to the trichothecene family. Vomitoxin is mostly distributed in grain seeds such as wheat, barley, and corn, and its concentration is usually in the range of mg/kg. Due to its high cytotoxicity and immunosuppressive properties, it poses a health threat to both humans and animals.

The sample solution that has been purified by passing through the column can be directly used for HPLC or LC-MS/MS analysis after being concentrated with nitrogen gas and resuspended.

T-2 toxin (T-2) is a mycotoxin produced by a variety of Fusaria. It mainly pollutes food crops such as wheat, barley, and corn, and their products, and is relatively harmful to human health and cattle industry. HT-2 toxin is the main metabolite of T-2 toxin. These two toxins are strong inhibitors of protein synthesis in the body and mainly affect the functions of blood, liver, kidney, pancreatic muscle and lymphocytes. The general clinical symptoms after poisoning are anorexia, vomiting, diarrhea, growth arrest, as well as reproduction and neurological dysfunction, etc.

The basis of the IAC measurement is the antigen-antibody interaction. All the main toxin antibodies are embedded throughout the column. After a sample is extracted and filtered, it is slowly passed through the IAC. The toxins bind to their corresponding antibody in the column. The IAC is then washed to remove unbound substances. The toxins are then eluted with the eluent, concentrated using nitrogen gas, then injected into an analytical instrument for detection. Affinity columns can be used in combination with HPLC and LC-MSMS to achieve rapid testing, and to increase signal-to-noise ratio and improve the accuracy of the detection method.

The MaxSignal® Total Aflatoxin Immunoaffinity Column (IAC) kit is designed for quantitative analysis of Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2, M1, M2) using HPLC or LC-MS/MS.

This MaxSignal Total Aflatoxin Immunoaffinity Column can extract Aflatoxins (B1, B2, G1, G2, M1, M2) from the sample solution, thereby having a highly targeted purification effect on the sample. The sample solution that has been purified by passing through the column can be directly used for HPLC or LC-MS/MS analysis after being concentrated with nitrogen gas and resuspended.

Aflatoxins are toxic metabolites of a class of fungi (such as Aspergillus flavus and Aspergillus parasiticus). They are highly carcinogenic and are found mainly in grains, peanuts, nuts, cottonseeds, animal feed, vegetable oils, as well as animal tissues and blood. Among them, Aflatoxin B1 ranks first in terms of toxicity, carcinogenicity and frequency of contamination. Aflatoxin M1 is a hydroxylated metabolite of Aflatoxin B1 and a strong carcinogen. Cow milk and its products are prone to Aflatoxin M1 contamination.
